Lee Juggurnauth jets off to the historic town of Vera in Spain’s Almeria region to help house hunters Christine and Howard find the perfect holiday home. After 30 years of marriage and a few difficult years back at home, the couple have decided it’s finally the right time to fulfil their long-held dream of buying a place in the sun. Lee has five attempts to impress with their £50,000 but will any of them result in an offer?
About the area
The best way to get to Vera in southern Spain is to fly into Almeria airport–the flight time is around 3 hours from the UK – then it’s about 50minutes drive. The town of Vera dates back to the 13th century and has a population of around 15 thousand, with a sizable British community. Being around 15 minutes from the coast means it’s popular with holiday makers and second home owners, but it’s very much a year round town, with loads of great shops, bars and restaurants. There’s also Vera Playa, a smaller town by the sea, famed for its nudist beach, though there’s still plenty of coastline for those of us who like to keep our kit on!
