Before they met John and Liz had separately been visiting the island of Gran Canaria for many years, and five years ago were introduced to each other in the town of Puerto Rico. Now with retirement on the horizon where better than here to settle down to life in a new holiday home that one day could become their permanent home! Ben Hillman has five great properties lined up for their budget of £140,000, but will any of them be their perfect property?
About the area
Puerto Rico de Gran Canaria is a holiday resort situated on the south-west coast of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria. It is one of the island’s most popular family resorts and is known for being one of the sunniest spots on the island.
There are plenty of amenities around town, such as bars, restaurants, shops and a popular public swimming pool. The beach at Puerto Rico is small but delightful; it doesn’t tend to get too crowded. There is a good range of water sports activities on offer – including jet-skiing, sailing, diving, big game fishing and windsurfing. There are also golf courses, a water park and a shopping centre nearby.
