Laura Hamilton is in the popular resort of La Mata on Spain’s Costa Blanca to help house hunters Gordon and Steph. Steph, who works in recruitment, and Gordon, a recently retired insurance broker, have been married for 33 years and now with their three children are all grown up, they’ve decided it’s the perfect time to buy a holiday home close to a golf course. Laura shows them the best of what their £125,000 budget has to offer them with five impressive properties, but will any of them result in an offer?
About the area
Around a two and a half hour flight from the UK takes you to La Mata, on the Costa Blanca in Spain, just a 20 minute drive from both Murcia and Alicante airports. Known for its stunning sandy beaches and golf courses, La Mata is a small Spanish working town, filled with history and culture, as well as plenty of restaurants and bars.
Just 5 minutes away from the holiday hot spot Torrevieja, La Mata has a more laid back traditional feel and though it’s becoming more and more popular with tourists, you can still get more for your money here than in the more well-known towns further along the coast.
