Charente, France - A Place in the Sun

Charente, France Sara Damergi

Suzi and Andrew from Barnsley are looking for a holiday home in Charente, Western France and property expert Sara Damergi has been tasked with finding them the perfect place. For their budget of £100k they’d like a rural property with three bedrooms that is still within walking distance of amenities. Sara shows them five fantastic options but will any of them result in an offer?

About the area

Charente is famous for the grapes that are grown there, and are used to make Cognac–which is also a town here, one of many beautiful and characteristically French towns and villages which are dotted around this mainly rural region, named after the river that flows through it. The population is around 350,000, around 5 per cent of whom are British, and it’s becoming increasingly popular with French people looking to relocate in the countryside
