Kefalonia, Greece - A Place in the Sun

Kefalonia, Greece, Danni Menzies

Danni Menzies is coming to the help of Anne and Gordon from Northumberland who met each other four years ago. Since then they’ve discovered a mutual love of travelling and now dream of buying a holiday home together in Kefalonia. With a budget of £200,000 will Danni find them their perfect property?

About the area

Kefalonia lies in the Ionian sea off the west coast of mainland Greece–and you can fly into its capital Argostoli in about 3 ½ hours from lots of UK airports. Kefalonia, which is home to around 2000 Brits, is one of the more laid back of the Greek islands and is particularly well known for the dozens of stunning beaches along its 150 miles of coastline. But there’s much more here than just sun sea and sand–the island is steeped in history, dating back to the Stone Age–for lovers of literature it’s inspired stories from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin all the way back to Homer’s Odyssey written in the 8th century BC–and it’s very popular with house hunters from all across Europe.

Property 1

House with Outbuilding in Sami

This house has a covered courtyard area to the side and a small, secluded garden at the back–which should suit Gordon and Anne down to the ground. Its hard not to love the main reception area in here, which is all open plan. There’s a separate kitchen, one bedroom and a bathroom. But with their visitors in mind, there’s also an entirely separate building on the land, which, with a bit of imagination, could be transformed into more living space.
