South Tenerife
What's the appeal?
Tenerife is the largest and most populated island in the Canaries and is an island of two halves, attracting around 4 million visitors a year. The Southern half is warm and dry with the Northern half being cooler, relatively wetter and greener. The South developed after the North, historically, (since the first airport was built near the capital of Santa Cruz in the North) but has developed into the most popular with tourists because of its climate. This is where the bulk of the development has taken place. Along this stretch of coast are large, bustling hotspots like Los Christianos and Playa de Las Americas which have become well known holiday destinations.
