Costa Dorada, Spain - A Place in the Sun

Costa Dorada Spain Ben Hillman

Ben Hillman is house hunting along Spain’s golden coast, the Costa Dorada, with Alison and Martin from West Sussex. The couple have just celebrated their silver wedding anniversary and having also recently retired, they feel there’s no better time to buy a holiday home, where they can spend quality time with their family. For their £120,000 budget, Alison and Martin would ideally love to be a short walk from the beach, and Ben has got 5 terrific options for them to see. But will any be the property of their dreams?

Costa Dorada

What's the appeal?

This part of Spain, lying in the province of Tarragona between the cities of Barcelona to the North and Valencia to the South on its East coast, is relatively undiscovered by Brits who have tended to stick to the Southern Costas. - The highest average temperature in summer is 30 degrees and in winter the lowest average is 7.5 degrees and the average sea temperature remains above 18 degrees between May and November. Its geographical situation provides a unique microclimate under which 6 distinct wines and cavas are produced as well as olive groves and fresh vegetable plots. Public transport links are great here too with a coastal trainline running from Barcelona/the airport to Valencia through Costa Dorada’s main resorts.
