Sara Damergi is with Beverley and her mum Margaret, house hunting in the spectacular countryside and medieval towns of Umbria in Italy. Beverly has enjoyed a 30-year love affair with all things Italian and now can’t wait to relocate to the Umbrian mountains to indulge her twin passions of history and baking. For her ideal £150,000 budget she’s looking for a rural house with a garden and space for her family to come and visit. Sara has five great options to show her, but will any live up to her dreams?
Umbria
About the area
Around a two and a half hour flight from the UK to Rome and the same again in the car takes you to Umbria in central Italy. The region, known as the green heart of Italy and crossed by the River Tiber, is home to some of the most breath taking scenery in the whole of the country, with traditional medieval towns and villages, castles and fortresses dotted in between as well the stunning Lake Trasimeno (the largest lake of central Italy) and Marmore Falls. Every year around half a million people visit this area (adding to its population of around 882,000), exploring all the history and soaking up those views.
