Properties for Sale in Fuerteventura
Hot Properties in Fuerteventura
Where to find a property for sale in Fuerteventura
The nearest island to the west coast of Africa, the flat and hottest island offers vast expanses of pristine sand and dunes, surrounded by warm turquoise waters. For good reason Fuerteventura is often referred to as Europe’s Caribbean. It’s the second biggest island - sitting between Gran Canaria and Lanzarote - but one of the least populated.
Like all the other Canaries it’s a great place for easy to reach the year-round sun and many would argue that it offers the best beaches of all the islands. There are 152 of them, so you have plenty to choose from.
Traditionally, it’s been less developed than other islands but the areas of Corralejo, El Cotillo, Caleta de Fuste, Villaverde and Lajares have been putting the island on the second-homes map, because another of its selling points is its value compared to more established islands, and small apartments start at around €90,000.
So where to go? In the capital of Puerto del Rosario on the east coast, you can buy such apartments, and it’s just north of the island’s airport. Head south a little more and you hit the purpose-built tourism hub of Caleta de Fuste, close to the island’s golf club, plus Costa Antigua, a quieter area.
In the finger of the far south, there are vast swathes of national parkland, but Costa Calma is a popular spot, close to a sandy beach, but most people will tend to head north from the airport to the biggest tourist hub of Corralejo on the tip of the island.
Facing the small islet of Lobos, the former fishing village is now a busy sprawling hub of apartment blocks, hotels and restaurants. Whilst its dunes are a major attraction, the town itself is not especially attractive yet holiday rentals can be a lucrative business as this is where many people want to be. There’s a nicely mixed community of expats including British, Germans and various other northern Europeans.
You’ll find a good choice of homes for sale there, from apartments from around €140,000, duplex apartments and townhouses for around €250,000 upwards, and €350,000 for a villa.
If you love beaches, to escape the package tour crowds and something a little less developed than Tenerife then try Fuerteventura for size.
