Properties for Sale in Puerto Banus
Hot Properties in Puerto Banus
Where to find Puerto Banus properties for sale
Glitzy and glamorous, Puerto Banús is one of the most famous spots on the Costa del Sol. Megayachts line its famous marina, whilst Ferraris cruise by and the party crowd head to its lively bars and restaurants.
You probably wouldn’t want to buy a home there unless you had fairly deep pockets - and that, of course, includes the yachting set - or you like to be close to the action (and all that floating wealth).
Yet it’s a fun place to be close by to - it’s not far from Benahavis, San Pedro, Estepona and Marbella - and prices drop if you head 15 to 20 minutes walk away from the centre. Nueva Andalusia is the area behind it.
Mainly modern yet with its roots in classic Andalusian architectural styles, Puerto Banús grew up in the 1960s when package tourism was taking off, and hit its heyday in the 1980s, although it was also famed for being part of the infamous “Costa del Crime” where British gangsters played in exile.
But Puerto Banús (known my regulars as Banus) is successful, well-known and attracts visitors from around the world - and stag parties too - and there are good reasons why.
Located within an hour from Malaga airport, it’s is a compact harbour town of white-washed buildings, pretty plazas, wide boulevards and upmarket shops.
There are cosmopolitan restaurants, bistros, shopping centres (Marina Banus, Cistamar, El Corte Ingles), Hermes, Karen Millen, Dior and Zara clothes shops and a cinema.
It’s perhaps never gained quite the same chic cachet as St Tropez, yet it has got family-friendly beaches and several beach clubs - choose between the traditionally Spanish chiringuitos, Ocean Club with its infamous 'champagne parties' and fashionable La Sala (the former Buddha Beach). Head on later to the famous Linekers Bar.
There are also stylish apartment complexes, and you need around €200,000 for a choice of entry-level properties in Puerto Banús. For this you might get a new studio apartment, but more likely a two-bedroom apartment that is a 15 or 20-minute walk from the centre. Penthouse apartments go up to €800,000 - at which point you can also get a villa.
Puerto Banus suits the jet set, wannabe jet set and anyone who loves to be in the thick of the action, whether it’s shopping or partying. Don’t go there for peace and tranquillity.
