Properties for Sale in Benahavis
Hot Properties in Benahavis
Where to find a property for sale in Benahavis, Spain
One of the prettiest Andalusian villages just inland of Marbella, Benahavis is one of the popular spots of the Costa del Sol. It offers the best of both worlds - stunning mountain views and just a 10-minute drive away, the beaches and the glitz.
Benahavis village, or pueblo, is an attractive community with a main street of cafes, restaurants and businesses, whilst the Benahavis district includes some popular developments: Atalaya Hills, Benahavis Hills, Monte Mayor, El Madronal and also the famous millionaires’ enclave of La Zagaleta (the country estate where Vladimir Putin is alleged to have a property). In fact, the village of Benahavís is renowned for its gastronomy and has the highest GDP per capita in the whole of Andalucía.
So there’s an affluent mix of people frequenting the local restaurants - Los Abanicos is so popular for its slow-roasted lamb that you might spot a Saudi princess there too - as well as locals and full-time resident expats. It’s less than an hour from Malaga airport, so an easy transfer for holiday home owners too.
The private school of Colegio Atalaya is also a big draw for families relocating, and there are sports facilities in the village - including a playground, basketball court, driving range and football pitch, as well as plenty of golf courses nearby.
So, what can you buy there? You can get a new three-bedroom, three-bath house for at least €800,000 in Benahavis Hills Country Club, a gated development with wellness facilities and superb views. Or you can get a three-bedroom townhouse in the village for around €325,000.
In Marbella Club Golf country club, you might pay €2 million for a villa, but near in mind that rental demand is very good in this area. Super-luxury resorts aside, your money goes further here than in prime Marbella developments, and with no further planning permission for new apartments, the value of those has increased.
The advantage of Benahavis is also that you have so much on your doorstep, from the lovely new seafront promenade (and sandy beach) at San Pedro a five-minute drive away, to the shops and bars of the marina at glamorous Puerto Banús.
Benahavis is an area that is not hard to sell. It suits Costa del Sol fans who don’t want to be right down on the strip, yet close enough to it to easily dip into it when they want.
