Property for Sale in Vera
Hot Properties in Vera
Where to find a property for sale in Vera
Vera and Vera Playa are popular spots in the increasingly popular province of Almeria in southern Spain, around 15-20 minutes north of Mojacar. Buyers are heading there for a mix of authentic Andalusian life, but also affordability when held up against the Costa del Sol.
The old town offers the pretty labyrinth of white-washed streets that is not unlike Mojacar’s; and it also offers some buildings of historic importance, including the town hall and the convent, and the oldest bullring in Almeria.
Vera and Vera Playa are 45 minutes from Almeria airport by car, and although flights are not as frequent there to the UK than Alicante, there is also the option of Murcia’s San Javier to the north (75 minutes).
Vera is a walled Renaissance town and an important commercial centre in the region. The church in the main square, Plaza Mayor, was built to fend off Moorish attacks, and there is some beautiful architecture in this prosperous town. There are also good restaurants, tapas bars, supermarkets, medical centre, and a great Saturday street market. It appears as it’s less developed than nearby Mojacar.
Vera is the inland town, whilst Vera Playa, as the name suggests, is the beach area 4km away. The Playa boasts unspoilt Blue Flag beaches (one a council designated naturist beach!), two supermarkets and plenty of beach bars and restaurants. There’s also Aquavera waterpark which helps make it popular with families. There are also four golf courses within a 15-minute drive.
Prices tend to be cheaper than in Mojacar but Vera Playa is still one of the most expensive locations in Almeria. There’s not an awful lot of difference between the type of properties in the respective playa areas with their urbanisations of townhouses and villas. Apartments start at around €80,000. Two-bedroom townhouses within five minutes from the beach can be bought for around €145,000, with three-bedroom properties from around €175,000. For around €280,000 you can get a three-bedroom villa with a private swimming pool - the average price is around €300,000, compared to Mojacar’s €450,000.
