Celia: "Two new properties and a new partner!"
I was fortunate enough to find my ‘second home’ in Olvera 13 years ago. I came here alone to look for a property and was going to look around elsewhere too but when I sat up in the plaza by the church and castle to contemplate what I’d seen, I decided there and then to look no further! My husband, who has since passed away, didn’t like being away from home so I bought one here and we came on holiday at least four times a year.
Zoe led us through the buying process step by step and we had full confidence and lots of help with everything we needed to do to make the purchase.
It’s always been my dream to eventually come here to live full time and almost 12 months ago I finally did it! So here I am living in this amazing village having made great friends and, knowing I’d need a little income, I bought another house with Olvera Properties in October last year which I’ve had fun putting my own stamp on and is now earning its living as an Airb&b.
Once again I had the full support of Olvera Properties and everything was seamless from start to finish. I also had the best surprise of all when I met my new partner here, he has a holiday home in Olvera too, and our paths crossed one sunny afternoon in the plaza. Now we can plan for our future here and maybe look at something a bit bigger for us both and space for a pool!

Stuart and Susie: "We liked it so much we upsized"
My wife had been visiting Olvera for a little over four years to see friends. It was in 2012 – on our Ruby wedding anniversary – when she surprised me with the gift of Calle Zorilla, a gorgeous three-storey townhouse on a quiet traffic-free road in the heart of the town. It was just the project I was looking for and we spent the next three years refurbishing and turning a house into a home.
Annemarie and Zoe are such perfectionists; their knowledge of the Spanish legal system faultless, and having Spanish speaking agents is priceless. Professional hand-holding is their forte.
In 2015 we decided to purchase a larger property and we returned once again to Olvera Properties. They presented a wide and varied collection of properties for viewing – and once again their talent and expertise were seamless. I’m penning this little missive in the kitchen of our new home – we have just reached the fi rst anniversary of moving in.
Kevin: "We swapped Marbella for the real Spain"
My wife and I were sipping a cool glass of wine by the side of the frantically busy coast road just outside Marbella listening to the cacophony coming from the bar next door. Everyone was enjoying ‘2 for 1’ pints to wash down their all-day English breakfast while watching sport on the big TVs and we thought to ourselves: “There must be more to Spain than this!
I had been working in Marbella for a couple of years and was becoming more and more disillusioned with that life. We decided to buy a place in the hills in a “real” Spanish town so we could enjoy weekends away from the madness of the coast. We fell in love with Olvera immediately: couldn’t believe that strangers would acknowledge you in the streets with a polite “Buenas Dias”; and how far our money stretched in restaurants and bars but also the price of property.
Annemarie and Zoe helped us fi nd the perfect house. The only problem was, the more time we spent in Olvera the more we realized that this was where we wanted to live full time!
I had worked as an estate agent in Italy and I decided that Olvera Properties was a business that I would love to be a part of and Zoe was just at the point where she was considering how to expand and off er clients an even better service. So to paraphrase the American entrepreneur Victor Kiam: “It was so good I bought into the company”. And here I am, loving life in Olvera and count myself very lucky to be able to work in such a beautiful part of the world.
