Where is it?

An island nation in the Indian Ocean situated approximately 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles) off of the southeast coast of Africa. When Mark Twain visited Mauritian capital, Port Louis, in 1896, a proud resident informed him that “Heaven copied Mauritius”. This statement is certainly backed up by the land’s verdant mountainsides, coated with yellow sand. Mauritius is a traditionally multicultural and welcoming society, and together with its friendly people and legendary smiles, they’ve helped in developing a tourism  sector with one of the highest rates of  tourist loyalty in the world.

There are numerous reasons to choose  It has developed as a year-round, luxury  holiday destination thanks to a near perfect  climate, friendly people and high  levels of personal security. But Mauritius is also a good place to live. It is economically strong and stable country with a modern infrastructure, high standards of healthcare, a good schools and is easily accessible via direct flights to Europe, Africa, China and the Middle East. It has welcomed over 200,000 foreigners of different nationalities who have chosen to work, live or retire there with a cost of living which is on average 40 per cent lower than in Europe. 

What can you buy?

In Mauritius foreigners are only allowed to buy properties on government designated holiday resorts. These resorts tend to offer villas that are ideal for renting. Prices start from around $US 500,000 - the level at which foreigners can become eligible for a residence permit under the government PDS scheme. In the popular Grand Baie and Black River areas of the buzzy northwest  of the island Prometheus  International is offering two projects,  with properties priced from £350,000  to £1,270,000.
