Joining the growing list of towns for sale, Toomsboro in Georgia, USA is now looking for a buyer.
The small town, which has around 700 residents, is being sold for an as yet unknown asking price. The town has one convenience store, a florist, a custom cabinet shop and a post office, as well as the fabulously named Swampland Opera House, which once housed a theatre, cinema and regular country, gospel & bluegrass concerts and has now become rundown.
Toomsboro is currently owned by David Bumgardner who purchased the town ten years ago, buying many of the buildings in an auction and the rest from local preservationist Bill Lucado.
The pair had planned to turn Toomsboro into a quaint tourist town due to its previous incarnation as a railroad hub and rich mining history, but due to the recession these plans have been forced to change.
Bumgardner and Lucado are now hoping that a production company will step in to rescue the town as they believe it would make the perfect setting for shooting movies or music videos.
