We are
Simon and Sharon from Wimborne. I (Simon) run an online retail business and Sharon works for the local Tourist Information centre. Our son James is a happy eight-year-old, passionate about sailing!
We own
Hesperides Gardens, a fabulous luxury two-bedroom townhouse in Paphos, Cyprus. It's superbly situated in a very popular location in the heart of Kato Paphos – the lower part of the town close to the sea. Our home has two large pools with a paved poolside patio area that's perfect for relaxing. The beautifully landscaped grounds are lined with a row of mature poplars and the property benefits from a large south-facing veranda, which is ideal for dining al fresco with friends and family – it also has a fabulous south-facing balcony looking towards the pool.
We chose
Paphos in Cyprus because of the fabulous weather conditions. The island is fortunate to have one of the best climates in Europe, with 11 months a year enjoying brilliant sunshine. Warm, dry summers lead straight into lovely autumns and nice short winters. During the summer months, the sun shines for an average of 11.5 hours a day, and for approximately 6.5 hours during the cooler months. While snow is very rare on the central plain and coast, in the highlands there's snowfall every year between December and March. In fact, the higher slopes of the Troodos Mountain Range offer good skiing conditions for about six weeks a year. Yet between January and March, average sea temperatures rarely fall below 16-17ºC. Where else can you ski in the morning and sit on a beach in the afternoon!
In addition to having great weather, Paphos has a wide variety of quality restaurants, fabulous beaches, excellent archaeological sites and plenty of attractions for children. The people are very friendly and welcoming and English is widely spoken, making Cyprus a real home from home… driving on the left side is an added bonus!
We rent out: Our property to families and couples all year round. Prices start from £249 per week in the winter to £599 per week in the peak summer months. We take a 25 per cent deposit to secure bookings, with the balance payable eight weeks before arrival.
We offer long-stay discounts during the winter months for stays that are greater than three weeks. Our property is provided through Villarenters (http://www.villarenters. com, where we pay just a small commission rather than a subscription fee every year. This means that we only pay for the bookings we get. Their Rental systems technology also makes the booking and payment process much easier. We also have a cleaner/manager who looks after our property locally and is always available to help.
Transfers from Paphos Airport are only 20 minutes and a local car-hire company provides a “Meet & Greet” service to deliver you to the front door.
We pay
€1,400 (£1,217) per quarter for the management of our complex. Electricity and water is more expensive than in the UK so we ask guests to conserve energy.
