Property for Sale in Granada
Hot Properties in Granada
Property in Granada
Granada is a province in the eastern part of the autonomous community of Andalucia, in southern Spain. The province has something for everyone: urban living offered by its impressive capital city (also called Granada), world-class skiing on the Sierra Nevada and the beautiful beaches of the Costa Tropical, both just a 30 min drive away.
One of Andalucia's best-loved cities, the famous old Moorish capital of Granada is situated at the foot of the Sierra Nevada between two outlying hills, which fall sharply down to the fertile Río Genil valley.
Take a walk around the Albaicin district, with its steep and winding narrow passageways, cobbled streets and old buildings with courtyards. Enjoy the aroma of spices pervading the air and savour food from eateries inspired by North Africa.
At the top of the district is a lookout providing what is thought to be the most breathtaking view of the ‘world’s most beautiful building’, the famous palace of Alhambra.
Head south east of Granada to the snow-capped peaks of the dazzling Sierra Nevada mountain range, a haven for hikers and skiers. The high peaks make skiing possible in winter, in a region well known for its warm temperatures.
Popular property areas tend to be places like Montefrio and Ventorros de San Jose. Two-bed apartments cost in the region of €140,000 and a three+ bed villa will set you back around €250,000.
Flights from the UK to its capital city (also called Granada) take about two hours 30 minutes.
Where to Buy Property in Granada
Popular properties tend to be in areas outside of the capital. Montefrio, a charming whitewashed village located just off the tourist trail, is a favourite with buyers. Located in the northwestern corner of Granada, Montefrio is thought to have one of the most stunning settings in the region. The village is nestled between two ancient churches - with the ruins of a Moorish castle at its highest point – and is surrounded by a landscape of olive groves.
Montefrio has a Tourist Office (Oficina de Turismo) with an English-speaking receptionist. You can find out more about activities such as walking, cycling, climbing, bird watching in the area, as well as visiting places of interest such as the archaeological site of Penas de los Gitanos.
We recommend getting stuck into the village’s sausage-making tradition by trying out some sausages (chorizo and salchichón) and black pudding (morcilla) in the village bars.
This upbeat, friendly village is perfect for a rural retreat. The cities of Cordoba and Granada are still within relative proximity and the beach is a two hours 30 minute drive away.
As for property, two-bed apartments cost in the region of €140,000 and a three+ bed villa will set you back around €250,000.
