The town is known for its agriculture facilitated by irrigation from the Segura River. The city has abundance of trees including those of citrus fruits, artichokes, cereals, and olive trees. There is some livestock as well. Also, there are some industries that serve as the source of income for local people. These include textiles, food, hides, and furniture and construction industries.
