The property is located in the village of Salir do Porto. Salir do Porto is a popular village within easy access to the beaches of Salir do Porto, São Martinho do Porto and Foz do Arelho. The village provides residents and visitors with a good mix of amenities and attractions to enjoy. Within the village there is a well stocked mini supermarket, a range of good restaurants and cafés, as well as a post office and ATM machine.
Salir do Porto is home to one of the highest sand dunes in Europe. There are boardwalks that lead from Salir all the way along to the sea front and to the town of São Martinho do Porto.
São Martinho do Porto is a short five-minute drive or a 10 minute walk from Salir do Porto. The main town nestles around the bay, where you’ll find opportunities to swim, sail, relax on the beach or to watch the sunset with a glass of local wine. There is a wide range of independent shops in the town that provide clothing choices, home decorating, jewellery along with pharmacy, mini-markets and of course a plethora or restaurants and cafes that line the promenade. These offer everything from traditional Portuguese cuisine to internation dishes. A wonderful space to enjoy and meal and a chilled glass of the local vinho while watching all the seafront activity this town provides.
The old town of São Martinho do Porto sits above the bay and is lined with a labyrinth of narrow Portuguese calçada streets and beautiful old buildings, many of which have been restored.
There are some lovely little shops selling a range of locale traditional artisan items.
Foz do Arelho is one of the most popular holiday destinations on the Silver Coast of Portugal and is within a 10-minute drive of the property. The centre of the village is a blend of old and new, with beautifully renovated traditional villas and homes, mingled with modern construction. The natural point where the impressive calm lagoon meets the roar of the Atlantic Ocean is one of the main reasons Foz do Arelho continues to attract many visitors. There are an abundance of walkways stretching round the lagoon with nature reserves, wildlife lookouts and surf schools offering a range of water sports. The beach area has a impressive promenade lined with a range of bars, restaurants and cafés with direct access to the beach.
The larger town of Caldas da Rainha is located approximately a 15 minute drive from the property.
It is a large thriving, cultural, historical and beautiful town with a stunning park and a range of day to day amenities ranging from healthcare, shops and banks etc. The main market square is well known for its daily farmers market selling local produce of fruit, flowers and artisan products.
Caldas da Rainha is less than an one-hour drive from the Capital City of Lisbon and also offers a frequent and efficient coach service to Lisbon and Porto on a daily basis.
Lisbon can be reached easily via a network of coaches and direct roads within a 1hr drive. The International airport is also approximately a 1hr drive.
