Full Description
House in Somiedo Natural Park
House to restore in beautiful surroundings. If you're a nature lover and enjoy the mountains to go hiking and climbing, this house could be the one for you. Around 100sqm, the house is on two levels with no connecting stairs. It would need a complete renovation. The roof has been raised to give more height to the first floor living space. The ground floor is currently filled with farming equipment, but can all be cleared away and start from a blank canvas. The house is currently connected to mains water, but not to the electricity supply. This can be connected however because the house is registered as a vivienda.
To the right of the house is a traditional hórreo which is in great condition, including the roof. To the left side of the house is the land which measures around 1000sqm and is buildable. The land is fully fenced and gated at either end. There's access by vehicle from the top of the land as well as by the house. If gardening or raising chickens is your ideal, there's a useful metal shed on the land and water is also available via an outside tap.
Next to the land, the lovely sounds of a mountain stream can be heard trickling down the slope. This property sits in the heart of the wonderful picturesque Somiedo Natural Park. As well as being designated a natural park, it is protected as a special area of conservation and as one of a number of Biosphere Reserves in the Cantabrian mountains. It covers 39,164 hectares and the municipality of Somiedo is completely included in the park, as well as the municipalities of Belmonte and Teverga. The lakes in the park have been designated a natural monument.
The park is also a stronghold of the Cantabrian brown bear. The Fundación Oso Pardo FOP) opened an interpretation centre in October 2011 called “Somiedo y el Oso” in Pola de Somiedo.
