10 Bed House for sale
Valaire, Loir-et-Cher, Centre, France
Full Description
Close to Blois and the Loire, in an estate of more than 7 ha, a house, an annex house and a barn. From a municipal road, a path lined with oak trees leads through meadows. It leads 250 m further to the house, which appears at the bend in the road. Built at the end of the 19th century, the old farm was once the property of a neighbouring castle. The two buildings, connected by a barn, extend over a length of more than 50 m. The main entrances are located to the northeast, where a gravelled parking space is used to park vehicles. At the north-west end, the main house is flanked by a tower about 4 m in diameter. A weather vane overhangs its rounded roof and slightly protrudes from the ridges of the house. A symbol of the Egyptian passion of the ancient occupants, triangular sitting dogs with their semi-rounded bays evoke the eye of Osiris. The west corner connects the tower to an extension of the farmhouse. It has a French window in the centre surmounted by a sitting dog with bull's eye. The three sides of the roof of the extension are attached to the top of the wall of the farmhouse. The whole is covered with local tiles, to be renovated for the second house. In line with the extension, a stone wall frames a terrace, the limit of which is marked by two small rectangular water basins. This is followed by a small outbuilding, with large windows, which can be converted into a winter garden or used as storage to house the summer lounge. At the back of the property, an English-style garden is laid out opposite the main house. An Italian-style garden faces the other accommodation. Several water basins are installed here and there.
