Full Description
In Normandy, in a 2-hectare park planted with remarkable trees, a manor house inspired by the Italian Renaissance. In a hilly landscape, facing the Andaines forest, the estate can be discovered from one of the streets of the village. It crosses an enclosed and wooded park to a wrought iron gate marking an old entrance. On one side, a lane leads to the hamlet and leads to the main entrance. A first building includes stables and a carriage house. At the end of a driveway, in a dominant position, the manor house is preceded by a forecourt. The central body is flanked on one side by a tower with a cut-off effect which houses the main staircase. A raised vegetable garden and a large shed stretch along a stone wall at the back of the building.
Built in 1850, on a square plan of 300 m², the Italian Renaissance-inspired building is the work of a wealthy mining owner. Perfectly symmetrical, the façade of the main building and its regular bays is made up of a two-tone brick and dressed stone fittings. The complex is three storeys high and topped with a Mansard roof, formed by two straight and perpendicular slopes, topped by tall stone chimneys and pierced by double dormers, also in stone. Two bull's-eye are placed at the front. The façade is punctuated by five rectangular windows, two on the ground floor and three on the first level. One is extended by a wrought iron balcony with stone corbels. On the east side, eight bays share the gable, all topped with dressed stone pediments, decorated with mascarons with fantastic heads, strings of flowers and clusters of baroque fruit. Finally, a turret in the shape of a watchtower hugs one of the facades.
