Location:

The Haute-Loire region is, thankfully, one of the best kept secrets of France. The countryside is wild, beautiful and dotted with some delightful medieval villages. The area is predominately rural with lots of small farms, meadows, cattle, forests and of course the mighty river Loire, which starts its journey here. The region has been shaped by volcanic activity and the dramatic mountains provide the perfect playground for hiking, biking and other outdoor pursuits.

The property itself is in a peaceful and private location, within walking distance of the village of Rosieres. Here you'll find two bakeries, cafes, restaurant, grocers, pharmacy and medical facilities. There's also a produce market held every Saturday morning. The Corbeouf Ravine is a short walk from the property. This is a spectacular clay canyon forged by the volcanoes and gorges of the River Suissesse.

20mins drive is the department capital of Le Puy en Velay. The town marks the start of the Santiago de Compostella trail and is dominated by some spectacular religious monuments, which sit precariously on huge volcanic outcrops. Here you'll find a wide range of shops, restaurants and (of course) an excellent weekly market.

The nearest airport is in Lyon, which has regular flights to and from the UK with a range of airlines. If you're not a keen flyer then the TGV train service, which also stops in Lyon, is a great way to travel.
