Full Description
Semi-detached house, full of character, in a small village community just 5 minutes from the ancient village of Lari. The house is currently divided into two real estate units which could be retained to provide for a home and rental opportunity, or the two units could be easily reunited to become one large house (230 sqm). There is a beautiful outdoor courtyard and a large flowered terrace, both ideal for outdoor dining. Easy access and private parking.
There are two entrances: one from the external staircase that goes up to the courtyard and one from the gate where it is also possible to enter by car. The small village where La Dama is located is made up of a group of houses, most inhabited by italian residents, in a small, very friendly community.
The first part of the house is accessible on the ground floor through a glass door that leads to the entrance from the veranda, then in to the spacious dining area. There is a kitchen with fireplace, and a large room and a bathroom on the ground floor; from the living room you go to the first floor where there is a double bedroom with balcony, a large dressing room with window and a lovely bathroom with bath.
The second part of the house consists of an apartment with an independent entrance from the ground floor, and it is composed of a large, very bright living room with arches and fireplace, a kitchen and a small room with a french window overlooking the courtyard; from the entrance the staircase leads to the first floor where there are two rooms, various built-in wardrobes and a bathroom. Outside there is also another laundry closet. This part of the house has been nicely renovated and is in excellent order.
The house is in excellent condition, has all utilities connected and active. It is perfect as a second home, a permanent home or for home/rental options. The location is ideal as it is so close to the entrance to the main highway between Pisa and Florence, close to a train station, within easy reach of the beaches and all services (supermarket, banks, bars and excellent restaurants), and with the airports close by with Pisa in 20 mins, Florence in 50 mins.
The surrounding area is beautiful and a perfect base from which to explore Tuscany. The property is close to pretty Lari, with an ancient castle and to the beautiful town of Casciana Terme, famous for its thermal waters with a newly renovated spa with indoor and outdoor pools. Casciana Terme is dominated by a castle, with a beautiful central piazza and since Roman times it has been famous for the curative warm thermal waters. Today it is a bustling town with a busy weekly market and great shops and restaurant and a famous theatre. It is halfway between the famous hilltop village of Volterra and the splendours of Pisa.
The coastal cities of Castiglioncello and Cecina, the golf courses of Pisa and Castelfalfi, and the historic towns of Volterra and San Gimignano are all within easy reach, and each make a wonderful day out. The old town of Livorno is close too, with rocky beaches and a maze of canals to discover by boat and from where it is possible to hop on the ferry to relax in the gentle pace of life on the island of Elba. The nearby città d’arte (cities of art) include Volterra, San Gimignano, Palaia and Florence, each offering splendid art and architecture to admire. The rolling hills in between, dotted with medieval villages and castles, and with lanes flanked with tall dark green cypress trees epitomize this Tuscan landscape. In Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli, the famous tenor, has his Teatro del Silenzio (the Theatre of Silence) which draws some of the biggest names in opera when he hosts a spectacular summer festival in July. There is so much to discover in Tuscany.
